Tutorial: Learn to create a News-App within minutes using Safe, Token-based Development (with video)

DNN (without 2sxc) is a bit scary for non-developers - because whenever you read tutorials you end up thinking that Visual Studio is the way to go, that you must use C#, and that anything you develop like that won't work in the near future. Which is kind of correct...

That's why we extended 2sxc with App-mode 2 years ago - to keep things simple, sexy and future-proof. With it the 90% of apps which are trivial, need a lot of customization on each installation and just have to look great, can be implemented without any code, are easy to understand and easy to customize.

...and if some day you do have something more complex (like SPA/MAP-Implementations or server side C# and Razor) then 2sxc is already prepared for those use cases as well. But we want people to start small, and grow - so that all web-designers can participate and customize everything to their needs.

So I created a short video showing how to create any kind of App - in this case a News-App - using just Token-templates, a few views and more. Have fun, try it out, enjoy.

Important downloads:

  1. DNN - you'll need DNN 7.2+ (don't use 7.4.1, there is a url-bug which breaks the admin-dialog)
  2. 2sxc - use 2sxc 7.1.2+
  3. The news app (the result of the tutorial video) for use, modification or whatever you want
