Re-use existing content items

Very often you want to re-use an existing piece of information. Examples are:

  1. One-to-One re-use: you already have a person on one page, and want to use the same person on another page
  2. Use in list and standalone: you already have a person to one page, and now want to add him to a list of people manually
  3. Re-use with different layout: you already have a person on one page - showing the face and name, and now you want to show the same person on a google map

This is very easy in 2sxc, as you can always choose to re-use an existing item instead of adding another.

Note that re-used items are the same item. It is not a copy. Any change to this shared item will update all other pages as well. If you want to discover how to copy an item, check this tutorial.

Check the standard Content pre-requisites

Basically you must be sure that you have

  1. A running DNN
  2. 2sxc is installed
  3. Content-templates have been installed
  4. You are logged into DNN with admin permissions

If someone else prepared this for you, then this has all be done already. Otherwise you should start in the learn > installation section.

Create the first content-items
