ASP.net Core and Entity Framework Core is Finally here - and What this Really Means

ASP.net Core will be RC2 in about a week and RTM end of June. So here's a summary of the most important things for you, and how this will affect your next 12 months.

Pop the Champagne Corks for RTM

ASP.net should be stable and production ready in about 7 weeks' time. This means a milestone in the new stack of .net. Being RTM means that .net core will also be RTM, and Entity Framework Core as well.

So from now on, developers will be able to create new solutions based on either the full .net 4.6+ or the reduced .net Core 1.0 or both
